BACKGROUND:

The City Council awarded Contract 23-242 to Volt Electric, Inc. on December 19, 2023, for a one-year term from the date of award to December 31, 2024, with three one-year options to extend.

The Water Utilities are responsible for the maintenance of 19 water supply and distribution sites dedicated to receiving, producing, storing, and distributing potable drinking water. These sites consist of ten ground level and seven elevated storage tanks, eight pressure adjusting stations, seven pumping stations, eight water wells, two booster stations, and two control valve vaults. Additionally, the department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 25 wastewater collections and pumping sites and five stormwater pump stations.

The Water Utilities require the services of a licensed and bonded electrical contractor to provide on-call labor, materials, equipment, and expertise in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the above-listed equipment.

DISCUSSION:

During the original term of the contract Volt Electric Inc. performed a variety of electric work at the Springbrook Water Reclamation Center, including thermal imaging at all water supply and wastewater pumping stations and a variety of electrical repairs at several water supply and wastewater pumping sites.

Volt Electric: Inc. is requesting an 8% increase due to increasing labor costs. Based on the vendor’s performance, staff recommends extending the contract for the first option year.

The term of the first option year is from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, with two option years remaining.
