Reschedule the January SECA Bootcamp to second quarter 2024

The idea of holding an informational workshop, tentatively called “SECA Bootcamp,” was raised under New Business at the August 16, 2023 SECA Commission meeting. The purpose of the Bootcamp is to provide applicants with information, including but not limited to: how to organize a successful event; how to obtain sponsorships; event logistics; marketing ideas; grant writing; and common mistakes when putting together an event, project or program. Subject matter experts may be invited and asked to share lessons learned in small group sessions.
The SECA Bootcamp idea was shared with applicants during the SECA Grant Fund applicant mandatory meetings and the response was favorable. At the September 20, 2023 SECA Commission meeting, Commissioners Zards and Greene Robb volunteered to develop the Bootcamp and Commissioners Chen and Chakka volunteered to create a marketing plan.
The SECA Bootcamp was scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. After reviewing registration numbers with staff, Commissioners Zards and Greene Robb decided that registration numbers were too low for an effective Bootcamp and recommended rescheduling the Bootcamp for late winter/early spring.
