BACKGROUND:
The Prairie Nature Garden is one of the projects included in the Naperville Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan. The Riverwalk Foundation has been a supporter of this project from the beginning and has urged the Naperville Park District to develop a design for the improvements. The Riverwalk Foundation has committed $45,000 to construct the improvements in 2024. The Park District and City have developed a plan using both in-house and contracted labor to complete the improvements this year.
DISCUSSION:
At the January 2, 2024 Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) Committee meeting the group reviewed and discussed the attached plans. The PDC supported the plans and plan to construct in 2024.
If the Riverwalk Commission approves the plans and endorses construction for 2024 then these improvements will be sent to the Naperville City Council and Park District as a formal addition to the Riverwalk.
